Favorite Hair Care

Happy Monday! As we keep getting deeper and deeper into the winter season, I change up my hair routine a little bit because of the dryness and the cold. I thought it would be fin to share my favorite products and what I all use in the winter when I am styling my hair straight most of the time. What works for me may not work for you, but it worth the try, right?! Most of these products that I use is because someone in my life or online have recommended them to me.

I am not someone who washes my hair daily, or even comes close to that. Since my hair is think and I do not style it a ton, I usually only wash my hair about once a week. When I do wash is I have been using Monat Balance Treatment system, which helps with shine, hair growth, and hair follicle strength. I was turned to this when I was at an event for work and a fellow co-worker was selling, and when she told me her story and how it work I was sold and knew it was worth the try! I have been using it for about a month an a half and I do notice the increase shine in my hair. 🙂

The other reason I wanted to give Monat a try is because it is made with natural ingredients and it is free of Phthalates, PEG, Sulfates, and other chemicals that I do not know what they are haha. Monat has some other hair care systems as well, so if you are in the market for new products for washing, check them out!

After I am done in the shower, the first thing I do is add Moroccan Oil to my hair and then I brush it. I have been using Moroccan oil since I was in college and I do believe that it helps with the shine and the softness of my hair. I put it in before I start brushing it because it helps with the tangles of my natural curly hair. I use the original Moroccan oil, but they now have a light treatment if you have finer hair and have issues with greasiness. My hair is pretty dry so I try an add in as much moisture as possible.

For my brush, I always use one of my Wet Brushes. When my hair is wet I do not use the one pictured above, I use the original wetbrush. The one pictured above I used when my hair is straight because it helps with the shine of my hair. If you do not use the Wet brush yet, you need to run to target ASAP and get one for yourself!

Dry Products

Once I straighten my hair I try and keep as mush volume in it as possible. Around day 3 after washing my hair, it starts to get a bit flat so I like to use dry shampoo at the roots and texturizing spray from the mid shaft down. For dry shampoos I am currently using the Living Proof Phd dry shampoo, and to be honest at first I did not love this product. It sprays a lot of white, but it is easy to work into your hair, so if you have dark hair like myself just watch out for this.

For texturizing sprays I love both the Ouai texturizing hair spray and the Oribe dry texturizing spray. I like to use the Ouai product when I have curled my hair because I think it helps with holding the curly and it still helps with the texture as well. I like to use the Oribe texturizing spray when my hair is straight and I want to have a messy look. I love them both equally, so I would recommend that you try them to see what works best with your hair.

Extra Products

I have been growing my hair out since my senior year of college and it was at its longest when I got married in 2015. I did not cut too much off after the Wedding, but I have been trying to get it back to that length for a while now. I have always been a fan of taking some form of vitamin to help with hair growth, and when I ran out of my last vitamins I saw the Sugar Bear Hair Vitamins on Instagram. I thought I would be worth the try and I am glad that I did! I am now on my third bottle of these vitamins and I love them so far because they taste great and I truly think they are helping with my hair growth. If you are in the market for hair vitamins the Sugar Bear Hair ones are for sure worth your try!

I am the number one fan of drybar I am pretty sure! Any time I am visiting a city that has a drybar nearby I always stop in to get a fresh blowout! So naturally when they launch hair product a couple of years ago I knew that I would love them too. Mr. Incredible is a leave-in conditioner that helps with shiny, soft, and healthy hair. I like to use this on the ends of my hair before I go to bed and I put my hair in a bun. I the morning I think that my ends appear to be less crispy and healthier looking. If you are also a fan of drybar you should try out their hair products!

This Moroccan Oil product I only use on my hair when I am going to blow dry it, which is not too often. This helps protect my hair from heat and after I straighten it there is so much shine to my hair. My hair dresser used this on me when I was getting my hair cut and it looked so good when she was done I knew I needed to try it on my own. If you are using this Moroccan Oil Smooth product do not use too much because it can make your hair feel a bit dirty once you are done styling it.

I hope you give some of these products a try and if you already use any of them, please comment below and let me know how you like them. If there is something that you use in your hair routine and you love please share it below in the comments so I can give it a try!

I am traveling to Orlando today for week for work, so if I am quiet on the social media front, that is why. Enjoy your Monday!

Xo, Leah

  1. Thank you for the Monat shout out Leah!!! Love that you’re loving it! If you are curious, Monat’s dry shampoo is made with rice starch instead of the usual corn starch, so you will not get that white powdery look, and it smells AH-MA-ZING!! 💕
