Happy New Year! Cheers to 2017! With a new year here, that usually means new goals that we want to accomplish. Since working out is a popular new year’s resolution, I wanted to share what workout I have been doing since August! I first started attending Orangetheory Fitness classes in August and I have not stopped since then. 🙂
Orangetheory Fitness opened a new location that was 10 minutes from our house, so I signed up as a founding member. I had not tried it when I signed up, but I figured if I absolutely hated it I could cancel my membership. The exact opposite thing happened, I love it! I signed up for the unlimited class option, so I try and attend classes 3-5 times a week. The class type changes daily so if you want to go back to back days it does not get repetitive. OTF mixes up the classes in the right way so it does not get boring and it is always challenging. This is the first fitness class that I have tried and have stuck with for this long and I feel a change in my body. I have not lost a ton of weight but I feel stronger and my clothes fit better.
Each class is a 60 minute workout sessions split into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training with heart rate monitors to track intensity and maximize metabolic burn. Having the heart rate monitor helps me push myself, I don’t know if it is because I am paying attention more to my body or if it is a placebo type effect haha. Whichever one it is, these workouts have been working for me and I enjoy going to class. The trainers at the Buffalo Grove location are great because they are always motivating you and if there is a move that does not work for you body they will always assist you in making a modification. They also always have the right thing to say to push me in my workouts.
Regardless of the studio location you go to everyone does the same workout on the same days, so if you have a friend from another city that attends classes you can always talk about the challenges and what you liked about the class. One of my friends from college attends a OTF in Columbus, Ohio and we will text each other whenever there is a difficult class and we felt like we were going to die. It is nice to have someone to chat about the workouts! 🙂
Orangetheory Fitness has studios all across the country, so if you are looking for a new fitness class to take it is worth your time to try it out.
