Wedding Wednesday: The Budget

Wedding Budget

When it comes to planning the wedding of your dreams it all comes down to the budget. Once you figure out the amount of money you want to spend on your magical day it will be easier to figuring out how much you want to spend for each area of your wedding. For Howard and I, we were very fortunate and my parents gave us a lump sum of money to spend how ever we wanted, so once I knew the amount we were going to be receiving I made an excel document so I could subtract the costs as I was booking the vendor.

For my day job I work a lot in excel so I wanted my budget sheet a certain way, but it you are not excel savvy or you do not care what your budget sheet looks like, there are a ton of great guides on Pinterest and The Knot. Also buy creating a budget sheet early on, it is almost like a to-do list for your wedding day. When you are creating your budget sheet you can add everything that you would like at your wedding and as you are getting quotes and booking vendors you can drop the numbers in so you can see how it is fluctuating your total number.

Theknot.com has a great Wedding budget calculator, and if you are already a Knot member it will be easy to use and this way everything is in one location and you can access it from any computer by logging into your account. No matter what your budget is, small or large, you will be able to plan the perfect day for you and your hubby to be! 😀

  1. I was all about the excel sheets too! I think to save your budget negotiation is key! I got super good at that during the wedding. My best advice is get the quotes from vendors before you even mention your budget. Then you can talk them down!
